Shields, Frank

Dear Frank & Anna,

Sorry about this check being late but I got caught up in the holidays and forgot all about it. Hope you enjoyed your as much as I did mine. The boys and I went to Kathy's for Christmas dinner and it really was great. Everything was just perfect and it is a beautiful memory that I shall cherish forever.

When I think back to Christmas of 75 and remember with horror the absolute mess that I was - it's hard to believe that I am the same person. I guess time does heal all wounds. I still have my moments of despair - days where I question that guy up in the sky - why me! - have myself a good cry - hate him for the moment - and then get on with the task of daily living. I know I have come a long way but I have also come to the realization that I still love Bob and I think I always will. But I have also learned that even though I love him he is not someone that I can live with.

I have gone to a couple of PWP socials and most of the people are very nice and very friendly and even though I try - I still feel like an outcast. I know what my problem is - I don't want to be there. The thought of starting all over again with another man (assuming I can find one) scares me to death.

I want to thank you once again Frank for your letters of assistance, concern, and much love when Bob and I first separated. Without you and Dot to lean on I don't think I could have made it. Just knowing the two of you were there - ready to help - hurting with me and for me - I could never put into words what it meant to me. Thanks again Big Brother!

One last thing. Bobby got his grades and he got 4 C's. Is this par for the course? Or do I have a need to be concerned. I know he really tried. Everytime I looked at him he was hitting the books. How did Leo make out?

Give my love to the kids and save some for yourself. Come visit anytime I enjoy your company.

Vee
