Thursday September 20th

Dear Frank -

I'm a procrastinator! The one thing I dislike is letter writing - for proof all you have to do is look at my phone bill. I am fortunate that the time difference between Massachusetts and California works to my advantage - I can call after 11 p.m. and get the 60% rate and it is only 8 p.m in California.

Frank I feel that I know your children very well after your letter. They sound like nice children and your pride of them really shows. You are very fortunate.

I was sorry to hear of Leona's death. I pray that she didn't suffer too long.

I was very glad to hear that you had remarried but sad to hear that you and Ann had separated.

You really had a houseful for a while - bet you could write a book!

Wish I had exciting news about my many years but alas I can't. Nothing exciting or interesting has happened. I have worked with and for some wonderful people and have made so many lasting friends tho.

Tom & Jerry have been the active members of the O'Neil clan. They lived in Japan for a total of 9 years then settled down in La Jolla, California for a spell. Then off to Italy for a year. They spent 3½ years in Madras India then back to the States to settle in Phoenix, Arizona for about 3 years then disaster. Tom became unemployed and remain that way for about 3 years. He then went to work in Iran and from there to Jordan. Right at the moment he is working in Trinidad. Who nows where next.

While Tom was in Iran Jerry took the big step and bought a Condo in Solana Beach, California. This is the first property they can call their own since they owned a cape in So. Glastonbury, Connecticut. The location of the Condo is ideal - they overlook the Pacific Ocean from their patio and if they were so inclined they could attend the races at Del Mar by just walking to the end of their street.

Jay and Donna and Kevin live in La Jolla, California. Jay is a lawyer. Tommy lives in Marina del Ray and works for a drug company - Tommy was married but unfortunately it didn't last too long.

Frank I was sorry to hear that your Father had died. I remember so well the time we all went crabbing and brought such a great catch home that they had to be put in the bathtub.

How about your sisters?

Frank - you asked about some of our old friends. The last I heard from Brookin and Birdie they were living in Maine. Al Howard resigned from General Electric but apparently has not left the area because I saw his picture in the local paper attending the Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament. John Milo died about 3 weeks ago. He had been ill for some time. Aubrey and Alice Britain were at the funeral Mass for John. They are well and enjoying their retirement. They are living in Marblehead. Both Andy and Bessie Nixon[?] have passed away. Charlie Wilkins is still living in Lynnfield. His wife is not well - she is senile. Pretty hard on Charlie.

Frank - how about Martin Burrows and Walter & Margaret Huening?

I still keep my knitting needles going - just finished a sweater for Tommy. Oh! went to Adult Education classes for 2 years and ended up with 2 beautiful - at least I think so - chairs. We learned to upholster starting with the bare frame. It proved great therapy right after my Mother died.

My latest project is to strip the wallpaper from the 3 bedrooms. Haven't decided whether to repaper our just paint. Guess I'll decide after the paper is removed and I see how the plaster has stood up over the years. I had the downstairs rooms done and it was a disaster. I purchased my own paper - Walltex - and received a bill for $2400. Needless to say I didn't pay the full amount.

Frank you must be tired from listening to me ramble on and on so I'll stop!

How about spending a weekend here in Lynn. How about the long weekend including the 8th of October. I'm a terrible cook but I guarantee you won't go hungry. Might even have a treat of steamers and lobster - memories of the past!
