This occasion might fittingly be given over to reminiscing:

I can go back in memory to the early days of the old Thirteenth. Many of you present recall those hectic days of routine; when our distinguished guest was just a "case closer".

Then, as now, we all had our problems and perhaps many of them were more intricate than those of to-day.

I feel certain those of you who were associated with me at that time cannot but share in my deep appreciation of the ready aid and able counsel that was always extended to us by Mr. Lovett. And the more noteworthy and meritorious were his acts of kindness and consideration when one reflects the judicial atmosphere that pervaded the district office at that time.

And in later years, when the mantle of Supervision was bestowed upon this member of the "Old Guard", that benign personality which he possessed continued to spread good cheer. In fact it became universal in its embrace, went beyond the bounds of locality even to touch those who were his severest critics.

So, to-day we can sincerely state we consider ourselves most fortunate in having him as our own, and especially when one observes the latitude of justice and good fellowship that he displays in his dealings with his fellow man.

Therefore, I feel it a great honor, a distinguished privilege on behalf of my fellow officers to present you with this small token of the high esteem in which we hold you on this, the twenty-fifth anniversity of your Stewardship.
