Dear Mother:

Maybe you'll be able to read these few lines. Truthfully I can't even see the page & am feeling my way. I had my eyes examined this A.M. They're full of drops, which evidently relax the muscles & nerves completely 'cause you can't focus.

Wouldn't write but wanted you to know I got your wire & letters. At long last Joe & Fran will get together. I'm so glad.

But you're wrong - 'cause Joe & I didn't plan this. I only asked him to keep in mind a furlough for October with me - but I guess that's out now. If I didn't have that 12 days in March, you'd probably have 3 of us home now. But I guess we've already had too much to be asking for cream on our cake or egg in our beer.

Wrote both Joe & Frank but suppose it will be ages now till the mail catches up with them.

Am so anxious to hear where Joe goes - & to hear from Fran.  - I haven't in so long. Was wondering if I could call him up, but suppose he's out all the time. Was hoping Ronny would give me a ring on it. Perhaps I shall take a stab at it some night before the 6th. But it takes so long for calls to go thro' that I can't even ask him to be around at any certain time. If I don't get him - he knows I'm thinking about him. Incidentally what does he want for Xmas. We'll be sending that out almost before he leaves here.

Mary Case gone - APO San Fran. so I guess she's on her way to Australia to see Nancy D.

Tell Mary S. [Salerno?] to write me. I wrote her ages ago & she never answered.

Till later.

Love, Dot
