Dear Dot:

I received your letter of the 11th today. Your 3 day pass sounds swell. But let me explain things first.

Right now I'm in Jail, only they call it the detention Ward. I've been here for 3 days now. It doesn't mean any thing, they don't put it on your service record or anything like that. I'm just down here to cool off & to keep out of trouble. I told the Colonel off a couple of days ago, so here I am.

When I got your letter today, I sent for my Doctor & showed it to him, & he says that he'll do his best to get me out. If you come down I feel sure I'll be able to see you. If I'm out when you get here, & I hope I will be I'm pretty sure I can get a 3 day pass & stay in town.

Now the Rail Road is up to you. I don't know anything about them. You will have to inquire as to time, place, etc. Let me know when you are arriving in St. Pete & I'll meet you. I can take care of room reservations & all that.

The only thing I'm afraid of is that 3 days won't be enough time for you to get here & back again in time. But as I say, that's your angle of worry. I do want you to come Dot. If any thing should come up to prevent it from this end I'll wire you, other wise come ahead only let me know before hand when you are to arrive.

Even if I don't get out of Jail, you can still visit me, but I feel quite sure they will let me out.

The weather is damm hot, bring your bathing suit! Let me know in advance & I'll make room reservations.
